Welcome to the Spring 2016 edition of the EPSMA newsletter.

The EPSMA is raising its profile with renewed co-operation with our sister organisation the PSMA in the USA and reinstatement of the relationship with CENELEC so that members can have more influence over the standards that affect our industry.

May management committee meeting

The meeting was held at the PCIM exhibition in Nuremberg on the 10th May attended by ten members and the Technical Committee chairman Paul Conway. Foils from the meeting and minutes can be seen in the members’ area of the website. Paul gave an update of the TC activities, the TC meeting held the day before and various other areas of potential work. Potential EPSMA membership of ECPE was discussed- see meeting minutes for details.
The next MC meeting will be a teleconference on the 7th September at 2pm central European time.


May technical committee meeting

Hosted by Siemens on the 9th May the meeting was attended by 9 committee members and one guest speaker. Meeting minutes on the website.
Upcoming standard IEC 61204-7 ed 2.0 was a hot topic with expert Holger Laible, the chairman of IEC-SC22E giving an update. The relationships between the soon to be withdrawn IEC 60950-1, its replacement IEC 62368-1 and IEC 61204-7 are still fluid.
New possible areas for TC publications were discussed, see below.


Website Update

The website continues to be expanded. Changes were reviewed at the management meeting to feature the member companies more prominently on the homepage.
Various feedback from the MC and TC committees will be reviewed and implemented as soon as possible.
Analytics of the website traffic are now available and providing interesting data with much activity from Russia! Views of the ‘Accurate Efficiency measurements’ white paper are increasing. At one point recently the white paper was #1 hit for ‘Accurate Efficiency measurments’ on Google, Yahoo and Bing!


EPSMA accepted as CENELEC liaison organisation

The EPSMA has been unanimously accepted as a liaison organisation with CENELEC and will be associated with Technical Committee  CLC/TC 22X ‘Power Electronics’. The EPSMA will be expected to contribute to the committee work but will in return have sight of working documents and be able to comment on and influence content.


EPSMA presents to PSMA at APEC

Paul Lee, representing the EPSMA presented an update to the AGM of the PSMA held at the APEC conference in Long Beach California in March. Useful contacts were made and PSMA expressed a wish to co-operate more. A new initiative is their ‘Committee on Global Standards Compliance’. EPSMA members have been invited to participate.


Market data on website

Public domain market data from IHS and Darnell now appears in the members’ section along with CENELEC newsletters about the implementation of standards in the India and China markets.
