XP Power has announced the HPT5K0 series, a range of high power density, high efficiency, resonant zero-voltage switching (ZVS) 5kW AC-DC power supplies with both ITE/industrial and medical agency approvals that feature a three-phase, three-wire, 180 to 528VAC input. This drastically simplifies installation as there is no need for a neutral connection, which is often not available in industrial applications.

Inbuilt digital control allows the setting of both the output voltage (0-105%) and output current (0-110%) via both analog & digital control interfaces. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is also provided to support system development & define unique user profiles allowing tailoring of the HPT5K0 units to the end application, including signals & controls, without hardware changes, thereby reducing design time. This capability also allows the same base unit to be used across multiple applications, reducing cost by driving economies of scale. The HPT5K0 series supports I²C, RS232 & RS485 serial buses with multiple digital protocols including PMBus, CANopen, MODBUS and SCPI, offering flexibility to designers. XP Power announces new low profile 180W U-channel PSU for space-critical medical (BF), industrial & ITE applications

XP Power has launched a new range of 180-Watt U-channel AC-DC power supplies that are intended for space-constrained medical (BF), industrial and IT applications. The low-profile devices are just 29.5mm high and occupy a small 107.6mm x 62.8mm footprint, allowing them to be used in high-density designs. The units are suitable for Class I and Class II operation and offer 2 x MOPP (Means of Patient Protection) of isolation while delivering up to 94% efficiency.


The UCP180 series PSUs have an integrated 12V, 500mA fan output, eliminating the need for any external driver circuitry. When used in conjunction with a fan delivering 10CFM airflow, they can deliver 180W of power to a load – a power density of 14.2W/in³. They are also suited for use in convection cooled applications where they deliver 120W (9.4W/in³). The U-channel construction provides a robust housing, an optional cover is available for applications where the unit may be user-accessible.


XP Power has launched a new range of 20 Watt DC-DC power modules with international agency approvals for medical/healthcare applications. The series is suitable for all medical applications and particularly intended for use where the DC-DC converter provides a reinforced (2 x MOPP) safety isolation barrier, including patient contact and patient vicinity applications.


Modules in the JHM20 series are certified by both UL & TUV and carry all international approvals including IEC60601-1, EN60601-1 and ANSI/AMMI ES60601-1 for medical safety. This certification, and with the CB report including risk management, allow designers to use them for critical safety barriers with confidence, while reducing the time and cost associated with the end equipment approval. Suitable for direct patient contact, the modules have a maximum of just 2.5µA of patient leakage current and offer 2 x Measures of Patient Protection (MOPP) at a 250VAC working voltage, ensuring patient and operator safety.


Low-cost, open-frame 40W & 60W power supplies support healthcare, household and ITE applications

XP Power has launched two new series of low-profile, open-frame power supplies addressing the need for low-cost 40W and 60W solutions that support a broad range of applications within the medical, domestic/household and ITE/industrial sectors.  

Most markets are under price pressure these days; the new FCS40 and FCS60 address this need by combining low unit cost with easy integration into multiple end equipment markets with international agency approvals, high efficiency and low emissions. This is further supported by the wide operating temperature (-25°C to +70°C) that allows use in a wide variety of environments.

The new FCS40 & 60 supplies offer a single output of either 12, 15, 18, 24, 36 or 48V at efficiencies up to 86%, model dependant. An on-board potentiometer allows the voltage to be trimmed by ±10%, optimising the voltage for specific load requirements or voltage drops.



10:1 & 4:1 input DC-DC converters for railway and rugged environment applications launched by XP Power

XP Power has introduced two series of wide input range, cost-effective, high-power density DC-DC converters for railway traction and rolling stock applications.

The DC-DC converters’ wide input ranges reduce inventory requirements and enable them to be used across a wide range of applications. The 20W rated RDE20 series feature a 4:1 input range covering 24, 37.5 & 48VDC nominal on the 13-70VDC input versions and 72 & 110VDC nominal on the 42-176VDC versions. The 25W rated RDF25 series converters boast an ultra-wide 10:1 input range of 16-160VDC covering all nominal inputs from 24VDC to 110VDC with one device.


Certified to EN50155 and EN50121-3-2, the converters carry the all-important safety approvals and EMC requirements for railway applications. Further, designed to EN45545-2 they meet the relevant fire protection standards. Using a small number of external filtering components, these XP Power devices offer a very high-power density compared to other products that meet these industry standards. This high-power density makes them eminently suitable for space constrained applications, particularly the RDE20 that boasts a tiny 1 inch x 1 inch footprint package size.  


  Versatile EMI filters range is high quality and cost effective








XP Power has introduced a range of chassis mount and IEC inlet EMI filters that satisfy the requirement for equipment to conform to the latest EMC emissions and immunity standards. The filters are suitable for any electrical or electronic equipment that is powered from a single phase AC supply.


Chiefly aimed at medical and IT equipment manufacturers, types FASA/M, FCSS, FDMM, FFSA, FGSM are IEC power entry inlets with integral line filters, and types FHSA/M and FIHA/M are chassis mount filters. Exhibiting versatility, FFSA and FGSM units also feature input switches. The range includes many variations to cater for a wide variety of end user needs and contribute greatly to OEM customers’ time saving when incorporating the units into host equipments.


XP Power’s EMI filters feature a wide operating temperature range -40 to 110 degrees C, with full power operation to +50 degrees C. This operating range permits operation in warmer ambient temperatures than competitors’ products that derate from +40 degrees C.
