Bel Power Solutions Announces PES2200 Series Beyond Platinum Efficiency

2200 W High Density Front-End Power Supply with Full Digital Control


Variants for AC- and DC-input enables server, storage and telecom OEMs to standardize power entry module across product range, simplifying integration and servicing Santa Clara, CA [September 26, 2019] Bel Power Solutions, a Bel group company (NASDAQ: BELFA and BELFB) and premier global manufacturer of power management devices, today announced the PES2200 Series, 2200 W high density power supplies with full digital control for servers, storage and networking equipment and other highavailability applications.

With totem-pole bridgeless power-factor-corrected (PFC) and soft switching resonant techniques in conjunction with synchronous rectification DC-DC stage, the AC-input model can achieve beyond Platinum efficiency. The DC-input model uses an interleaved forward converter topology with active clamp and synchronous rectification to reduce component stresses, thus providing increased system reliability and very high efficiency.

An active OR-ing device on the output ensures no reverse load current and renders the supply ideally suited for operation in redundant power systems. PES2200 Series power supplies provide a main output of 12 VDC for powering intermediate bus architectures (IBA) in data center and telecom central office equipment. The convergence of IT and telecom infrastructures means that computing servers, storage appliances, routers and networking switches may be installed in data centers with AC input power or -48 Vdc telecom environments. Manufacturers of computing, network and storage equipment can use the PES2200 Series to simplify the integration and servicing of their servers and appliances.

The PES2200 Series provides a high-efficiency and feature-rich power source for servers running web and email applications, databases, streaming games or movies, or providing storage, as well as routers and network switches. This high-performance computing equipment is being used in applications and services such as multi-access edge (MEC) computing, enterprise edge computing, real-time communications, cloud services and virtualized applications.

Measuring just 80 x 40 x 195 mm (3.15 x 1.57 x 7.68 inches), the PES2200 Series has a power density of 59 W/in3 and provides a 12 V output plus an always-on 12 V standby output at 3.5 A. Digital control, programming and monitoring using the PMBus™ protocol improves the ability of OEMs to control the power supply while increasing reliability and efficiency over a wide operating range.

Bel Announces Agreement to Purchase CUI Power Assets


JERSEY CITY, NJ, November 11, 2019 - Bel Fuse Inc. (“Bel,” or, “the Company”) (Nasdaq:BELFA and Nasdaq:BELFB), a leading supplier of products that power, protect and connect electronic circuits, today announced that the Company has entered into an asset purchase agreement (the “Agreement”) with CUI Global Inc. (Nasdaq:CUI), in which CUI will sell the majority of its Power business (the “CUI Power Business”) to Bel for $32.0 million, plus the assumption of certain liabilities and subject to closing working capital adjustments.

Based in Tualatin, Oregon, the CUI Power Business, a division of CUI Global Inc., had TTM sales of approximately $37 million with products and distribution that offer strong opportunities for growth.

Their product portfolio will round out Bel's current Power Products offering, allowing us to better address all our customer power needs. POWER INDUSTRY LEADERS CREATE ALLIANCE FOR

48V DIRECT-CONVERSION APPLICATIONS

Alliance to Enable Multi-Vendor Supply-Chain Ecosystem for Open Compute and Data Center Projects


San Jose, Calif. – [March 20,2018] – At the Open Compute U.S. Summit 2018 today, four leading suppliers of

power solutions announced a new alliance, the Power Stamp Alliance, to create collaborative solutions for

48V-to-low-voltage on-board DC-DC power converters. These 48V direct conversion DC-DC modules - or

‘power stamps’ - primarily target high-performance computers and servers being used in large data centers,

many of which follow the principles of the Open Compute Project (OCP). By creating and sharing a

specification for a standard product footprint and functions, the Power Stamp Alliance has created a multivendor

ecosystem to assure practical levels of alternate source capability to server and storage system

manufacturers, while encouraging a competitive supply chain through differentiation in topology, circuitry,

and performance from multiple, independent manufacturers.

The first processor architectures addressed by the Power Stamp Alliance include the Intel VR13 Skylake

CPUs, Intel VR13-HC Ice Lake CPUs, DDR4 memories, IBM POWER9 (P9) processors and high-current ASIC

and/or FPGA chipsets supporting the SVID or AVS protocols. The electrical concept of power stamps uses the

principle of a discrete or main stamp unit controlling up to five satellite stamp units that combine to

achieve more than 600 amps in total current capability. The size and powertrain footprint of the main

and satellite power stamps are the same,simplifying the design process for OEMs. As the power demands of

processor and memory devices increases, the PSA specification provides a scalable solution that can be

used in tandem with existing power-conversion devices.

“The kind of plug-and-play solutions enabled by the Power Stamp Alliance should appeal not only to the

hyperscale data center builders but also to high performance computer makers and telecom equipment

suppliers as the stamps themselves should be easy to integrate into their systems,” said Maggie Shillington,

data centers, cloud and IT Infrastructure research analyst at IHS Markit. “Driving efficiency and power

density down to the board level within an open framework follows the values of initiatives such as the

Open Compute Project and Project Scorpio and allows each vendor to focus on their own expertise and

experience.”
