EPSMA to present at PSMA AGM at APEC, Anaheim

The Power Sources Manufacturers Association in the US has invited the EPSMA to present at their AGM at the APEC show in March. EPSMA Vice President Manfred Schlenk will brief the PSMA on latest EPSMA activities and discuss possible future collaboration.

     Q1 2019 Management Committee meeting

The MC members approved the suggested new projects for the TC:

1. Guidelines to life time prediction for power supplies: Customers and even suppliers sometimes confuse life-time and MTBF (reliability) of power products. The proposed document should aim to explain the difference with an emphasis on lifetime, as an EPSMA document explaining reliability already exists.

1. Embedded Software Validation in power supplies: The document is to review the current use of software (firmware) in power supply products, explain the need for verification of its correct functionality and make recommendations for validation methods.

The previously suggested  topic ‘Practicall EMI disturbances’ was discussed and the decision was not to proceed for now. The TC will now start work on the approved topics.

There was lengthy discussion about preparation for a meeting with UL to be held at the next MC meeting. Objective is to influence UL to maximise value for money from UL services. If any members have further comments about this issue, please contact the secretariat.

Next MC meeting will be at Siemens offices Nuremberg Tuesday 7th May. Non-MC members are always welcome as guests. Please contact the secretariat if you wish to attend.
